There was period in the 70's and 80's where some in the adult movie industry had aspirations of being regarded as real filmmakers and produce works that were a step up from the sleazy porn loops that were just of two people fucking. They wanted to create a movie that had characters and a consistent narrative. Babyface is among the better movies of this era. The sex scenes are inventive and don't go on too long as most porno movies do and the characters are kind of interesting.
